Santander Private Banking Hires Head Of Investments

Santander Private Banking in Jersey, part of Spanish bank Santander, has hired a head of investment products.

Paul Clifford previously worked at Ashburton, a Jersey subsidiary of FirstRand Group, and was responsible for the company’s wealth management business.

In the newly-created role Clifford will deliver products which are suited for the current market conditions.

In a wave of expansion the Jersey-based bank announced a trio of hires in September. Jonathan Williams was named head of intermediaries, Simon Hayward, head of treasury, and Doug MacKenzie, head of private banking operations.

This month the UK asset management arm of Santander hired Azim Meghji as head of credit, a role in which he is responsible for managing the firm’s £977 million ($1.5 billion) corporate bond fund.

It also reinforced its global multi-manager team in London, hiring Renzo Desbordes and Helen Llorente as portfolio analysts.
